Defense Minister Anne-Grete Strøm-Erichsen (Labor) told Swedish radio that it is uncertain whether Norway will help if Sweden is attacked because they are not members of NATO. The Defense Minister was last week at the NATO Defense Ministers meeting in Brussels and visited Stockholm on Saturday.
- Norway does not have a defense force that can assist all sites other than our own territory. Sweden is our good neighbor, but we must also be very clear that we are a NATO member, and that is where we have our greatest defense alliance, who in a way we can count on if a crisis were to occur. We are good neighbors, we are there for each other, but this formal NATO alliance is stillvery evident, the defense minister said.
