The International Biathlon Federation (IBU) states that it will not allow the participation of Russian or Belarusian athletes in the future.

In Wednesday’s press release, the IBU states that the decision was made after a board meeting on Tuesday night in light of the war against Ukraine and the latest IOC recommendations.

Both the Russian and Belarusian biathletes have already withdrawn from the rest of the season.

On Monday, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) asked all federations to exclude Russia and Belarus from international competitions.

In the press release, the IBU further states that a potential membership exclusion will be discussed during a new board meeting on March 17. Russia has had a temporary membership since 2017, which means that there are no events planned there until 2026.
